Judy Marks, CEO, Siemens USA

Our small business partnerships exemplify our U.S. local approach here in our company’s largest market.

Though we are a global company, Siemens has been in the U.S. for more than 160 years. Today, we not only have 50,000 employees in all 50 states and Puerto Rico; we manufacture here. Siemens has more than 60 U.S. manufacturing sites that last year shipped more than $5 billion worth of high-value goods around the world. This made us a net exporter.

Our manufacturing sites work with a supply chain of more than 36,000 enterprises processing more than five million orders for Siemens ever year. And a sizeable portion of these enterprises are small businesses. All of our business divisions work with small businesses to solve problems and deliver solutions for customers.

When Siemens won the opportunity to build 70 locomotives for Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor, this was a big order for our rail facility in Sacramento, California. To complete it, though, we worked with 60 companies in 20 states, including many small businesses. Meanwhile, for a new multi-state locomotive order, the windows are being made by a minority-owned and operated business with 150 employees. Siemens also worked with a woman- and minority owned business with 60 employees to provide parts and components for the new Brightline passenger cars that will soon run in Florida.

This is why Siemens recognizes and continues to encourage our small business partners – as we did last week when we announced our 2017 Siemens Small Business Award winners at a commemorative luncheon in Cary, NC. The winners are:

  • HVAC Manufacturing, Inc. – San Jose, California
  • Clark Technology Systems, Inc. – Milton, Pennsylvania
  • RWR – Recycling & Waste Reduction – Ft. Worth, Texas
  • Clarke Packing & Crating Company – Hanover Park, Illinois
  • Steffensmeier Welding & Manufacturing, Inc. – Pilot Grove, Iowa
  • The Queen City Forging Company – Cincinnati, Ohio
  • HMC Instrumentation & Controls, LLC – Cypress, Texas
  • 804 Technology LLC – St. Charles, Missouri
  • Warren Fabricating Corporation – Hubbard, Ohio
  • Quality Products LLC – Charlotte, North Carolina

These small businesses are the heart and soul of our supply chain. They’re strong, efficient enterprises with passionate leaders and employees who inspire us every day. Congratulations to this year’s winners!
