"The introduction of these two new motors demonstrates Siemens’ commitment to the Petroleum, Gas and Chemical markets. The addition of these new motors to our extensive portfolio of motors is in response to the needs of our customers and the market"

Siemens introduces two new motors for the petroleum and chemical markets, the Pipeline Duty Motor and Petro-Chem Value Motor, in an effort to continue to serve its customers in these industries. Both of the new motors will be manufactured in the Norwood, Ohio motor manufacturing facility, an ISO and API® Quality Certified, US facility.

“The introduction of these two new motors demonstrates Siemens’ commitment to the Petroleum, Gas and Chemical markets. The addition of these new motors to our extensive portfolio of motors is in response to the needs of our customers and the market,” say Mark Cooksey, General Manager, Large Drives – Medium/High Voltage Motors.

The Pipeline Duty Motor features specific design and optional features to offer customers quality, low vibration, high reliability and assured variable-speed performance, cost –effective motor designs to enhance Siemens standard motor products.

In addition to the Pipeline Duty motor, Siemens has developed the Petro-Chem Value motor targeted for general purpose petroleum and chemical applications.  This new AboveNEMA motor features API® type performance, but with a value-based feature and cost structure. This allows customers to receive value through cost savings over a traditional API® motor, but also provides them with high performance.

Both motor specifications will include API® performance attributes including:  Low limits for Vibration (0.10 IPS, 1.5 mil on Shaft) for a longer running motor and drive train system,   Stator Temperature of  NEMA Class B by resistance for a cooler running motor, and a Bearing Temperature limit of 53 ̊C Rise for cooler operating bearings.  All of these features help ensure a quality, high performance motor with an extended service life and value for the life of the motor.

In addition motors built to these specifications will include other API® features including:  Class F-VPI Insulation System, C5 Core plate, Stainless Steel (SS) Hardware, Sleeve Bearings, Stator and Bearing RTD’s, SS Filters (WPII), AISI Shaft Material, Precision Rotor Balance and corrosion protection for the rotor assembly.  Further the motors include Copper Bar Rotors (1250 HP & Above),  Rotor Balancing at Operating Speed,  Constant Level Oilers, Space Heaters, Fabricated Steel Terminal-Box with Bus Bar Connections,  and Harsh Duty Paint for outdoor, unsheltered installations and all suitable for Class 1 / Group C&D / Division 2 hazardous area installations.

Both specifications also include concise, 4-page data sheets to help make it easier to select the unique features a customer needs while eliminating the ones not required.  By making the selection process easier, now customers can better see what they are ordering and maximize the value for their application while still meeting their application needs.
