    Siemens has signed on to support the first ever national television show dedicated to jobs and career direction for returning US military veterans is now being aired across the nation.

     

    Hosted by television news reporter Gigi Stone (Good Morning America, ABC News), Hiring America can be seen on the global Pentagon Channel as well as 32 local market television network and independent stations.

    Since early 2010, U.S. manufacturing has added over half a million manufacturing jobs and surveys show that more than half of all manufacturers are or are actively considering re-shoring production to the United States. Continued productivity gains, rising costs abroad, shortening supply chains, and the domestic advantages of low-cost and plentiful energy are making the U.S. increasingly competitive for production. But there is no end to the global competition for these jobs.

    Siemens has been named the most sustainable capital goods company in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), an internationally renowned sustainability ranking published by an association of investors. The company’s top position underscores its uncontested leadership in sustainability across seven industries. Siemens also received this honor last year – the highest that a company can achieve in the DJSI.

    We install a number of different types of safety switches on our machines, all we believe in accordance with applicable standards that were in force at the time. We aren't called on to do regular upkeep or updating of the machines very often. We're a little concerned that, as time goes by and users change out components, the original safety design might be compromised. We're thinking about designing in redundant switches up front to forgo future, unforeseen problems, liabilities.
