VIDEO: Rigorous Testing for the Charger Locomotive—the Next-Generation of Clean, Efficient & High-Performance Rail Travel

Last week, Siemens gave guests a behind-the-scenes look at the demanding testing program for its new clean diesel-electric Charger locomotive. The testing, done at the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, CO, includes maximum speed runs at 125 mph, acceleration and braking tests and validating the overall performance of the locomotive to make sure it’s it is operating as designed and ready to provide reliable service for passengers.

The locomotives, built at Siemens nearly 1,000-person Sacramento, CA plant which is powered in part by solar, will operate in states across the U.S. including Illinois, California, Michigan, Washington, Maryland and Missouri and will power trainsets for Florida’s new Brightline passenger rail service.
