This past week, Arizona Public Service (APS) was awarded the Project of the Year for Renewable Integration at DistribuTECH 2017. This honor, presented by POWERGRID International in front of thousands of show attendees, is certainly well-deserved, and we extend our sincere congratulations to the APS team.

Competing against projects from around the world, APS’ solar partner program took the top spot for Renewable Integration, thanks to its innovative approach to utility-owned solar deployment across 1,600 homes with 10 megawatts of installed capacity.

We’re proud to have played a role in this ground-breaking project by providing our SICAM renewable management software that helps APS intelligently operate the solar installation. By providing real-time, detailed insight via smart inverters and the software platform, the utility can manage power generation and usage across their geographically diverse service territory.

APS is unique because unlike other rooftop solar programs, they install, own, operate and maintain the assets themselves, which results in better power quality and greater system reliability. In a world where the role of a utility in a distributed energy landscape may offer more question marks than answers, APS is proof that with the right approach and advanced technologies, the true value of distributed generation resources like solar power can be realized for both residents and a utility.

We’re proud to congratulate our partner APS on this well-deserved honor and their continuing work to move the energy industry forward.
